"I start with a subject matter that interests me, a figure, a face, a building. I do not strive for photographic representation of this subject matter but rather a poetic visual interpretation thereof. I might organize all of these items of subject matter into a single composition wherein one designated space might seem
Profile Statement:
"I start with a subject matter that interests me, a figure, a face, a building. I do not strive for photographic representation of this subject matter but rather a poetic visual interpretation thereof. I might organize all of these items of subject matter into a single composition wherein one designated space might seem to push another and then again another until the totality of the progression turns the picture into something more. The totality of my composition must have a progression going in and out of the picture with careful regard to the border of the picture. I draw first on paper and then I begin my painting. By adding color, I try for a poetic and spiritual whole. In short, I try to find beauty."
